Artist Bio

Tianwen Zhong, violin

Tianwen Zhong, born in China in 2009, studied piano at the age of 5 and switched to violin at 6. In 2020, he was admitted to the Tianjin Juilliard School where he studied with Tarn Travers and Julia Glenn, and served as Principal Viola of the Youth String Orchestra and Principal Viola of the High School String Orchestra. In 2018, Zhong won the second prize at the Hummingbird Music Competition and the first prize at the Singapore International Music Festival Competition. He won the 2021 Julia Glenn Studio Prize for Best Scale Etude, and in 2023, he won first place in the Tianjin Juilliard School Pre-College Department Concerto Competition. Zhong has collaborated with renowned conductor and composer Yiwen Shen and he performed the second movement of Mozart’s Third Violin Concerto at Tianjin Juilliard Concert Hall. He has participated in master classes with Bing Wang, Stella Chen, and Angelo Xiang Yu.
