Artist Bio

Griffin Frost, cello

Griffin Frost is a junior at the Special Music School High School in New York City and studies cello with Julia Lichten. He has attended summer programs at the Heifetz Institute, the Meadowmount School of Music, and the Kaufman Music Center. As a 2023 winner of the Special Music School Concerto Competition, he performed Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations with the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. He performed the first movement of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto no. 1 with the Chamber Music Center of New York Orchestra as their 2022 competition winner. Frost’s chamber group was a winner of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s 40th Annual Young Musicians Competition (2023). He has performed with Charles Yang and Peter Dugan, the Harlem Quartet, the Kronos Quartet, and Curtis Stewart. He has played in master classes for the Galvin Cello Quartet, the Balourdet Quartet, Zlatomir Fung, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Clara Kim, and David Ying.
