Artist Bio

Ria Honda, violin

Japanese-American violinist Ria Honda is a recipient of many prizes, including the 2022 Rohm Music Foundation Scholarship Award. In 2021, she was awarded the fourth prize at the Klein International String Competition. Additionally, she has been featured on WFMT’s Introductions, NPR’s From the Top, Heifetz on Tour, the Evermay Concert Series in Washington D.C., and has performed with the Seattle Symphony and Cascade Symphony, among others. Recent concerts include the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series and the National Cherry Blossom Festival at the Kennedy Center. Ria has attended the Meadowmount School of Music, Heifetz Institute, The Perlman Music Program, Music Academy of the West, and most recently, Toronto Summer Music. She currently plays on a 1768 Gennaro Gagliano violin on generous loan from the Ryuji Ueno Foundation. Ria has degrees from Columbia University and The Juilliard School and is currently continuing her studies at Yale School of Music studying with Soovin Kim.
